We parked in this neighborhood on our way to the car show.
We were reminded that Evansville is an old (by U.S. standards) river town that had a prosperous past.
This is still a residence I believe.
This one dates to about 1884.
12 bedrooms, 3 baths, 7200 sq ft.
This is the Reitz home. It is now a museum.
John Reitz came to Evansville in the 1830s from Germany. He made his fortune in lumber.
This home was completed in 1871.
You can learn more here. http://www.reitzhome.com/the-museum
We'll have to visit the museum sometime.
This one is a little older, dating from the 1860's.
All 3 of these are within a block of each other.
I can imagine that some of you are getting tired of looking a flower pictures. Well, I'm not getting tired of taking them, yet. Look or not, up to you. I won't be offended.
Have you ever noticed the spiral pattern in the center of the Shasta daisy? Click to enlarge to see it better.
Margot can practice her blog editing skills by updating the flower names.
This is one of many day lilies in our back yard, it is called Bela Lugosi.
This is from a Butterfly bush.
This is a hydrangea type flower but Margot thinks it is called a Chinese Snowball.
Tiny Ghost Asiatic Lily
Serrada LA Hybrid Lily
Clematis
It is hard to see the spiral unless you are looking directly at the Shasta daisy.
